HAYTHAM FARAJ is a nationally recognized trial attorney. He represents clients in criminal and civil matters in Federal courts, military courts, state courts, and administrative hearings before administrative law judges and Boards. Mr. Faraj has represented clients in numerous complex cases that gained national and international notoriety. His remarkable record of successes reflects his commitment to his clients.
Mr. Faraj began his legal career as a military defense lawyer in the United States Marine Corps. Since his retirement from the Marine Corps, he has continued to represent military clients. He also represents clients in complex criminal and civil cases. He has provided exceptional legal representation to clients accused of committing White Collar crimes; crimes of violence; DUIs and DWIs; Drug and trafficking charges; and military offenses charged under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. He has represented clients in civil claims involving fraud; contract disputes; intentional and negligent conduct that hurts people; statutory violations; and seizure actions. Haytham Faraj began his legal career while he was in the U.S. Marines Corps. He served as the senior defense counsel at Camp Pendleton, California, from 2005 to 2008. When he left the Marine Corps, he had culminated a career that spanned 22 years. During that period he had served in a variety of assignments and places.
Mr. Faraj joined the Marine Corps from his hometown of Chicago, Illinois in 1986. He began his enlisted career with First Battalion Fourth Marines in Twenty-nine Palms, California as an infantryman. Following his initial assignment, he went on to assignments on embassy duty in Djibouti and Stockholm. In 1990 he was reassigned to Second Battalion Fifth Marines as a mortar section leader and later as a weapons platoon sergeant. He deployed to Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm and participated in a number of deployments. In 1992, he was selected to the Marine Corps’ Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP), an officer accession and scholarship program. Soon after his selection to the officer program, he was promoted to the highly coveted enlisted rank of Staff Sergeant. He attended college at The Military College of South Carolina, The Citadel, and was commissioned a Marine Corps Officer in 1995. From 1996 until 1999 he was assigned to the Third Battalion First Marines where he served as an infantry platoon commander and a mortar platoon commander. He made two overseas deployments during that period. from 1999 until 2000, Mr. Faraj was a company commander responsible for training Marine Corps recruits in combat field skills. In 2000 he was reassigned to become the Operations Officer for the elite Air and Naval Gunfire Liaison Company where he was responsible for training and ensuring combat effectiveness of the entire unit.
Mr. Haytham Faraj is a magna cum laude graduate of the Military College of South Carolina -The Citadel- and received his Juris Doctorate degreecum laude from the American University Washington College of Law in Washington DC.
He is Licensed in the states of Illinois and Michigan as well as the District of Columbia, Haytham Faraj is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
Haytham Faraj enjoys endurance athletic events and has completed numerous Ironman triathlons, marathons and multiple one hundred plus miles cycling events. He is active in Ride 2 Recovery, a cycling centered program that assists Vets in recovering from combat wounds.
Mr. Faraj is a fluent Arabic speaker.
